Prominent Disclosure: Special Permissions Usage
FocusPort requires specific Android system permissions to enforce distraction blocking and prevent accidental relapse. We strictly believe in complete transparency:
- AccessibilityService API: FocusPort uses the AccessibilityService API solely to detect when a user attempts to open a blacklisted app or website during an active focus session and to display the focus lock screen overlay. FocusPort does NOT read user keystrokes, personal messages, passwords, screen content, or financial information.
- Device Administrator Permission: FocusPort requests Device Administrator privileges solely to protect the application from mid-session uninstallation or force-stop tampering while a strict focus timer is active. This permission is never used to lock your entire device, wipe data, or alter lock screen passwords.
- Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Used locally on-device to track focus duration and compute weekly focus streaks.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
FocusPort is built with a privacy-by-design, local-first architecture. Unlike many digital wellbeing or productivity services:
- We do NOT collect, record, or transmit your browsing history or visited URLs.
- We do NOT track your precise geographic location.
- We do NOT access your contacts, SMS, photos, microphone, or camera.
- We do NOT use third-party advertising SDKs or data brokers.
- We do NOT sell, monetize, or rent any user data to third parties.
2. Information Processed Locally on Device
The following data is stored and processed exclusively in your device's secure local sandbox:
- Focus Session Timers & Schedules: Session lengths, start/end timestamps, and recurrence schedules configured by the user.
- App Allowlist & Blocklist Preferences: The list of packages and domains you choose to block or allow during focus blocks.
- Streak & Aggregate Session Statistics: Total hours focused and consecutive day counts for habit visualization.
3. Windows Desktop Companion Privacy
FocusPort for Windows runs as a standard desktop process managed via the Microsoft Store. It operates with standard user privileges and monitors active process names locally to close blacklisted games or tabs while your timer is running. It does not inspect network packets or inject background keyloggers.
4. Children's Privacy
FocusPort does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. Because the application operates completely offline without user account registration, no personal profile data is gathered from any user.
5. Security of Your Data
Because all focus preferences and streak statistics are stored locally on your device's protected internal storage, your data remains secure under the operating system's standard application sandboxing model. Uninstalling the app completely removes all locally stored configuration files.
